This picture was inspired by the short story Space Time For Springers by Fritz Leiber. Sometimes it's the stories that inspire.
Years ago, I read a short story about a kitten named Gummitch. Although he could not speak, Gummitch believed he had an I.Q. of 160. In his mind, due to his superior intellect, Gummitch had gained insight into the secrets of the universe that lesser beings failed to grasp. Oh, he also could teleport.
A well-written story as it merely presented the world from Gummitch's point of view. As the reader, you follow along as he articulately explains the deeper meaning behind each of his silly antics. But as the story unfolds, crescendos, then ends, you're left wondering... was Gummitch, only a cat? 🤔
This story was the inspiration behind this piece. I took a photo of my cat, Turbo, and added effects in Photoshop using paintbrushes, burning and dodging, and filters.
